Programs and Services
The Area Agency on Aging of Southwest Arkansas, Inc. offers programs and services to older adults, caregivers, and their loved ones. Our goal is to assist Medicare beneficiaries of any age and older adults age 60 and up to live at their maximum levels of independence.
CASE MANAGEMENT assists older adults, ages 60 and up, and their loved ones connect to and apply for available resources in our area. Our case managers are trained to provide you with all the information you need about services and benefits available and help you navigate the often overwhelming task of applying for benefits and programs for which you may be eligible.

SENIOR CENTERS provide the perfect place for active older people to meet new friends, keep up with their acquaintances, join a few health and wellness activities, and get a hot nutritious lunch. Our senior centers offer transportation to and from the senior centers. Transportation services include pick-up, drop-off, and some additional stops for errands en-route.
INFORMATION & ASSISTANCE provides free confidential and current information to older adults and their families on a variety of community programs and benefits.

HEALTH PROMOTION & DISEASE PREVENTION provides information and support to seniors, their families and caregivers with the intent to help the seniors improve their health and avoid illness. Diabetic Education Empowerment Program (DEEP) is an chronic disease self-mangement program that is offered to educate those affected by diabetes.
LONG TERM CARE OMBUDSMAN is a resident advocate making sure residents in nursing homes or residential care facilities have a good quality of life and get the care they need and deserve. They review and investigate complaint allegations including abuse, neglect, and exploitation made by or on behalf of residents.
LEGAL ADVOCACY AND REFERRAL provides resources to advise, assist, and advocate with older adults and caregivers on legal issues.
If your legal issues require more specialized attention, we can refer you to a trusted legal assistance program or law firm.
PERSONAL EMERGENCY RESPONSE SYSTEM (PERS) by ConnectAmerica is an advanced two-way voice communication system. It provides a hands-free communication link between an individual in distress and a 24-hour Response Center.

MIND AND BODY WELLNESS includes evidence based Tai Chi classes by certified instructors. This includes Dr. Paul Lam’s Tai Chi for Arthritis for Fall Prevention, Ageless Grace, Super Noggin.

SUPPORT GROUPS co-hosted by Area Agency on Aging of Southwest Arkansas, Inc. offer patients and care partners companionship which helps ease the feelings of isolation and loneliness. It also supports and nurtures a positive attitude. This includes Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Groups, General Caregiver Support and Parkinson’s Support.
TELEHEALTH ROOMS are available, at no charge, in the Lelia Enrichment Complex. Two HIPPA compliance spaces allow seniors and other Medicare beneficiaries use the rooms and equipment for telemedicine appointments with their out-of-town physicians.
COMING SOON!
Construction has begun on the indoor walking track since the completion and approval of the sprinkler system throughout the complex. The track will include carpet squares around the perimeter of the 80’x40’ space. In the center area of 40’x20’ a hard surface will be installed.
The Health and Wellness wing, allowing for the expansion of community support programs,
will be next on the renovation agenda.
